Signs That an AC Unit Should Be Replaced
Every air conditioning system has a finite lifespan. For the most part, an AC will last about 10-15 years before it needs to be replaced. If you experience any of the following warning signs, you should prepare to have your AC unit replaced soon. Limited Cool Air Out of Your Vents An AC unit that is not working will not pump cool air into your house evenly. This may come in the form of limited airflow out of your vents or even hot air instead of cool. If your compressor breaks, this can be an expensive repair that’s not worth the hassle. Excess Moisture It is normal for your AC unit to produce a limited amount of moisture when it is working, but you should not see excess liquid around your outdoor unit. This could indicate a refrigerant leak or some other fluid not staying in your unit. Frequent leaks are a sign of a more catastrophic issue with the air conditioning unit.
